Daily Japanese #33

Proverb of the day:

花より団子 (hana yori dango)

-dango rather than flowers
-to take utility over elegance. To respect substance and essence instead of facade and looks.

Word of the day:

癒やす (いやす/iyasu)

-to heal, cure.
-there is a difference between 癒やす and 治す. That is, 治す means to heal/cure the effects of illness on bodily health. Restoring the body from sickness doesn’t not necessarily mean the recovery of emotional and psychological stress caused.
On the other hand, 癒やす deals with interior processes which include reviewing one’s own experience, memories, and beliefs.

-guillotine

…行け風のごとく、魔界の剣士よ!
